Logfiles of Muute

When you encounter problems with Muute, you may be asked to submit a log file. This file contains diagnostic information that helps troubleshooting problems. In this article you can read how to find the log file.

Find the log files through the Muute app

In case the Muute app can be started without problems, you can easily find the log file directory through the app:

  1. Open Muute.

  2. On the start screen, click on the 'i' in the top left corner.
  3. Click on the button 'Open log file directory'.
  4. The app will now close and opens the file explorer in the correct folder.
  5. Here you will see a file 'main.log' and potentially a 'main.old.log' file.
  6. Send the file(s) to support@muute.com as an attachment to your email as well as a recording of the issue you encountered.

Windows - Find the log files directly through the file explorer

In case the previous method did not work, you can also find the log file manually:

  1. Open File Explorer

  2. Enter the following text in the navigation bar of File Explorer: %APPDATA%\muute\logs

  3. Hit enter.
  4. Here you will see a file 'main.log' and potentially a 'main.old.log' file.
  5. Send the file(s) to support@muute.com as an attachment to your email as well as a recording of the issue you encountered.

macOS - Find the log files directly through the Finder

  1. Open macOS Finder

  2. Choose 'Go > Go to Folder...'
  3. Enter the following text: ~/Library/Logs/Muute
  4. Here you will see a file 'main.log' and potentially a 'main.old.log' file.
  5. Send the file(s) to support@muute.com as an attachment to your email as well as a recording of the issue you encountered.
